Have you wondered why failure often provides the greatest lessons? A positive approach to failure is, after all, a crucial building block for success.
Welcome to November the Month of the Rotary Foundation. Before we get to TRF, it is only fair that we acknowledge the achievements met in October. Our Rotaract membership has risen to 2,648. We are very close to the target of 3,000 members. Congratulations to the Clubs that are contributing to this growth. A special applause goes to Rotaract Club of Nakawa MUBs which began with only 08 members this Rotary Year and by close of October, had grown this membership to 83 Rotaractors.
This got me thinking, what strategies did President Sixtus and his Board implore to have such a growth? Interacting with the Club during my visit, I noticed it started with their attitude towards the unpleasant performance at the start. Whereas the club struggled with membership, they chose to take lessons from it to support their strategies on addressing this situation. This was failing forward.
To fail forward means that you have chosen to respect each failure for the lessons it teaches you and to apply those lessons to future efforts. The acceptance of failure as a stepping stone to future success is the attitude I invite you all to acquire.
To be clear, accepting the concept of failing forward does not imply that you want to fail. It doesn’t even imply that you enjoy the opportunity to fail.
It does imply that you recognize that failure is an inevitable part of the road to success and that you will not let your fear of failing prevent you from taking appropriate risks. Similarly, it implies that you will not let the pain and humiliation of failure be the end of your path to success.
As we embrace the opportunity to service in November, I invite each of you to embrace giving to the Rotary Foundation. Our 30,000 USD Target is one we all should hold by the horns to make a reality. This begins with a reflection on what the Rotary Foundation means to you as an individual.
When you give to the Rotary Foundation, you fuel our service projects. Projects that eradicate polio, promote peace and improve developing communities. TRF giving is a smarter way of creating impact without being present at a project. Your contribution of as low as 30,000 UGX can make a huge difference in someone’s life. I therefore invite each Rotaractor to remit this before the end of November so we can await to jubilate the difference we will have created in our communities. Have you given through the 25 TRF Relay link? Please type Rotaractd9213.org in your search engine and you shall access all the relevant ways on giving.
Have you bought your ticket for the TRF Soccer at the Philp Omondi Stadium Lugogo on 24th November 2024 or you are planning to spend all of it at the Rotaract Africa Summit on 14th to 17th November 2024?
